During a boring evening, I decided to determine the pin-outs for the cables
supplied with Lap Link III. The following values are accurate as far as I
can determine (as tested with a digital VOM/Continuity tester). These pin-outs
can be used to make longer serial cables to use with LapLink, or, for those of
us with limited space in our carrying cases, a "LapLink Null Modem Adapter" can
be made for the 3 possible configurations (DB9 to DB9, DB25 to DB25, DB9 to DB25)
and allow you carry a handy dandy, multipurpose shielded serial cable that can
used to connect to serial printers, modems, and using these adapters to other
computers (and allow the LapLink Remote Install feature).
The full pin-outs for the serial and parallel cables are as shown
below:
